About this guide
thisHUSH covers comfort, quiet and air-quality gear, not health. Nothing on this site is medical advice: for sleep, breathing or hearing concerns, talk to a doctor.
Buy the Coway Airmega Mighty2 (AP-1512N) for easier routine filter access and more control over the display; keep a working Mighty (AP-1512HH) if it already suits your room. Coway's published smoke CADRs are close—233 CFM for Mighty and 240 CFM for Mighty2—so the main upgrade is maintenance and controls. Choose the original for its lighter cabinet and separate replacement filters, especially if you already have compatible supplies.

The weight difference matters if you move the purifier between rooms. The footprints are close, so measure the intended position and leave room for filter access.
Best for a new purchase: Mighty2 AP-1512N
Mighty2 earns our new-purchase pick through convenience. Coway puts the pre-filter on a slide-out rail on the right; its Max2 replacement combines carbon and HEPA in one assembly. The laser sensor supplies numerical PM1, PM2.5 and PM10 readings, and the information button also shows filter usage. These are useful reasons to change generations even when extra airflow is not the priority. Coway's Mighty2 page supplies the specifications.

Coway
Coway Airmega Mighty2 AP-1512N
The 2026 successor to Coway's Mighty: smoke CADR 240, a side-access pre-filter plus a combined carbon and HEPA filter, a PM1/2.5/10 laser sensor, and a purely mechanical design with no ionizer.
Check package and model options
- 240 CFM smoke CADR
- Removable pre-filter + Max2 filter (activated carbon + HEPA)
- 19 dB lowest setting
Choose it for the controls, with this caveat: in Smart mode, darkness for more than three minutes triggers Sleep, which runs at the lowest airflow. Smart Eco stops the fan after the sensor stays at Good for more than ten minutes; it restarts on detected pollution or after thirty minutes in Eco. If you want continuous airflow at a chosen speed, use manual control.
Its dedicated light button offers all lights on, the colored air-quality indicator off, the LED display off, or all lights off. Sleep mode itself leaves the Sleep indicator on. The manual also provides a control lock and a button-sound mute. Those distinctions matter more for a dark, quiet room than a generic Sleep-mode label. Mighty2 manual.
Best to keep or match: Mighty AP-1512HH
The original remains our pick for an existing HH household. Its published smoke CADR is close to Mighty2's, it weighs less, and keeping it preserves the separate deodorization-and-HEPA replacement system. Choose a new HH deliberately for those features rather than treating every listing containing “Mighty” as the same model.

Coway
Coway Airmega Mighty AP-1512HH
Coway's long-running mid-size purifier: smoke CADR 233 with a washable pre-filter, carbon deodorization filter and HEPA filter, a particle sensor with auto mode, and a switchable ionizer.
Check package and model options
- 233 CFM smoke CADR
- 361 sq ft room
- Washable pre-filter + carbon deodorization filter + HEPA; switchable ionizer
- 24 dB lowest setting
Auto adjusts fan speed from the dust sensor; selecting Eco lets the fan stop after thirty minutes without detected pollution. The ionizer has an independent on/off button. Holding that button for three seconds toggles the air-quality light, while the timer offers one, four or eight hours. These operating details come from the AP-1512HH manual.
Keep it if: its room fit and controls already work for you. Choose Mighty2 instead if: the side-sliding pre-filter, numerical display or dedicated light settings would make everyday use easier. A functioning HH does not become an unsuitable purifier simply because the newer model exists; our recommendation is to upgrade for a specific benefit.

A color name is not enough to identify the generation. Ask the listing to pass the model-number check before comparing its filter bundle.
Filters: fit, pack contents and cleaning
The replacement systems differ. HH uses separate deodorization and HEPA elements, with Coway's nominal replacement intervals of six months and one year. Mighty2 uses the combined Max2, with replacement recommended every twelve months; the manual says the interval can change with the operating environment.

The selected versions here are Fresh Starter for the original set and Fresh Starter+ for Mighty2. Other options in Coway's selectors need their own version check. On the original, the extra deodorization element is a replacement: install filters in the manual's HEPA → deodorization → pre-filter order. On Mighty2, combined carbon and HEPA describes the filtration materials, not a bundle's spare-filter count.
- Yes: Match the purifier's full model number to the replacement's compatibility list
- No: Do not carry original HH replacement filters over to AP-1512N Mighty2
- No: Do not substitute an HH set for the HHS set: Coway explicitly distinguishes them
- Partly: A filter bundle needs a separate check of its version and physical contents
Cleaning differs from replacement. The HH manual says to clean its pre-filter every two to four weeks: remove the front cover, unclip the pre-filter, vacuum or wash it, and let it dry completely before reinstalling. Its deodorization and HEPA filters cannot be washed or cleaned for reuse.
Mighty2's pre-filter also has a two-to-four-week cleaning interval. Slide it out to the right, vacuum or wipe with a dry cloth, reinstall it, then hold Info for three seconds to reset the cleaning reminder. Replacing Max2 still starts by opening the front cover and removing the pre-filter; side access does not mean every filter is serviced from the side.
Buying guide: room size, sound and placement
What is CADR, and which room figure should you use?
AHAM defines CADR as filtered-air delivery, with separate smoke, dust and pollen scores. For a common comparison, its suggested room area is smoke CADR × 1.55: 233 × 1.55 gives about 361 sq ft, and 240 × 1.55 gives 372 sq ft. This is AHAM's approximately 4.8-air-change basis with an 8-foot ceiling. Higher ceilings need a larger-rated purifier. AHAM sizing guidance.
Coway's HH manual explicitly gives 361 sq ft at 4.8 changes per hour, 874 at two and 1,748 at one. Mighty2's page advertises 1,800 sq ft at one change per hour; its manual also lists 450 sq ft in fifteen minutes and 900 in thirty. The manual's coverage note refers to two changes per hour, so attach the stated time to each area instead of treating every number as the same rating.
The AHAM US directory's retrieved brand list did not include Coway. Accordingly, the table attributes CADR to Coway; applying AHAM's formula does not confer AHAM verification. For more on the sizing decision, see our CADR sizing explanation.
Which is the quieter air purifier?
Coway publishes 19–50 dB for Mighty2. Its original Mighty one-sheet is internally inconsistent: the specification range is 24.4–55.1 dB(A), while the feature panel claims 22 dB(A) at the lowest speed. Those conflicting figures cannot establish a precise generational improvement.
Neither endpoint proves the sound at the speed you need for your room. We have no matched sound-and-airflow measurements for these models, so we would choose Mighty2 for its light and mode controls without declaring a measured quietness winner. Both manuals show that automatic modes can reduce or stop airflow; use a fixed setting if consistent fan operation matters. Our quiet bedroom purifier guide covers the wider choice.
Allow for access as well as the cabinet
Mighty2's manual specifies a firm, flat, dry surface, warns against blocking the outlet and says to avoid direct sunlight. Leave practical working room on the right for its sliding pre-filter and at the front for Max2 replacement. HH needs front access for its clipped pre-filter. Our purifier placement advice sits with the wider shortlist.
Black Friday and Cyber Monday checklist
Read the full model
Match HH, HHC, HHS, AP-1512N or Mini to the intended purifier.
Identify the replacement
Match the filter family and selected variant separately from the purifier name.
Count the contents
Distinguish the installed filter from spare replacements; get the bundle's contents in writing.
Check the room basis
Compare the same air-change rate and ceiling assumption before choosing a larger-room claim.
Use this checklist for older listings and bundles throughout the year. A purchase should make sense on its model, upkeep and room fit before any seasonal promotion enters the decision.
How we choose
This comparison uses manufacturer specifications, operating manuals, Coway's model-specific filter guidance, CARB's device classifications and AHAM's sizing documents. We prioritize room ratings on the same basis, replacement compatibility, access and usable controls. We have no firsthand performance measurements; recommendations are editorial judgments from those documents. Conflicting figures stay attributed to their sources. See How we choose.
Verdict
Buy Mighty2 for easier routine access and better display controls. Keep or match the original HH for its lower weight and existing filter supplies. Their published smoke CADRs put them in a similar room-size class. Choose between the maintenance routines first, confirm the full model second, and order replacements against that exact model.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Coway Mighty2 worth upgrading to?
Choose Mighty2 for its side-sliding pre-filter, numerical particle display, light controls and combined Max2 replacement. Coway's smoke CADRs are 240 CFM for Mighty2 and 233 CFM for the original, so we would keep a working AP-1512HH that already suits the room. An upgrade also changes your replacement-filter system: do not count unused HH filters as supplies for Mighty2.
Do the Coway Mighty and Mighty2 use the same filters?
No. The AP-1512HH has separate deodorization and HEPA filters; AP-1512N Mighty2 uses a combined carbon-and-HEPA Max2 filter. Order against the complete model number. Coway also explicitly says AP-1512HHS requires a different replacement from AP-1512HH and HH(W). Similar names, a shared color or the word Max2 do not establish compatibility. Check the exact filter version and physical contents of the pack.
What is CADR, and does Mighty2 cover a much larger room?
Clean Air Delivery Rate describes the volume of filtered air delivered, with separate smoke, dust and pollen scores. Coway publishes smoke CADRs of 233 CFM for Mighty and 240 CFM for Mighty2. Applying AHAM's room-size multiplier gives approximately 361 and 372 square feet respectively on its 4.8-air-change basis. Mighty2's advertised 1,800 square feet uses one air change per hour, so it is a different sizing comparison.
Can you turn off the ionizer and lights on the original Mighty?
Yes. The AP-1512HH manual gives the ionizer its own on/off button. Holding that button for three seconds switches the air-quality indicator light on or off; this is a different action from a short press. Mighty2's manual provides dedicated light settings, including all lights off. Its Sleep mode separately leaves a Sleep indicator lit, so use the light setting when complete display darkness matters.
