About this guide
thisHUSH covers comfort, quiet and air-quality gear, not health. Nothing on this site is medical advice: for sleep, breathing or hearing concerns, talk to a doctor.
For a sleep mask with headphones used mainly with your phone, start with Manta SOUND: adjustable eye cups, speaker-position tabs and removable electronics make it our default recommendation. Choose SnoozeBand MAX if you want built-in sounds without a phone and swappable eye covers. Prefer uncovered eyes? Choose a headband; for in-ear alternatives, see our sleep earbuds and headphones guide.

The SnoozeBand model comparison distinguishes cup construction and offline playback. Its shipping policy confirms US fulfillment from Alabama. Buy through the maker links here: SnoozeBand's FAQ says it does not sell on Amazon or eBay.
Best starting point: Manta SOUND
Choose Manta for separate adjustment of the strap, eye cups and speakers. Manta specifies 5 mm speakers, a magnetic top opening for removing the electronics and no audible battery notifications. These are useful design details; they cannot establish how the mask will feel against your pillow.
Identify the current SOUND by its magnetic access opening and 24-hour claim at full volume. Older SOUND versions should not inherit the current specifications; SOUND DUO means a bundle of two masks. The generic audio-mask column on Manta's comparison is not an older SOUND specification.

Best without a phone: SnoozeBand MAX
The current US-store MAX bundle includes detachable eye cups and a Mulberry silk eye attachment. Remove the eye covers to use it as a headband. Its ten onboard sounds need no external device, and its speakers adjust inside Velcro pockets. The separate SnoozeBand Silk mask is a different product from MAX's included silk attachment.
There are specification traps. The comparison lists cup depth as 1.5 cm, but the MAX page says 1.6 cm: exact clearance is unresolved. MAX has a power-on voice prompt and a flashing light during pairing; the maker says it gives no low-battery or disconnected voice alerts. Do not order expecting complete silence during startup.

Best flat-mask option: SnoozeBand Deluxe
Deluxe is the choice for padding against the eyes rather than cups around them. It has onboard sounds, adjustable speaker positions and a roll-up design. Choose MAX or PRO instead if eye clearance is the reason you are buying.
Its battery specification is inconsistent: the feature list and comparison say up to 13 hours, the product specifications say 10–15 hours, and the general FAQ says 12–15 hours for Deluxe and PRO. Ask the maker to confirm the supplied version if runtime decides your purchase. We would not choose Deluxe for a supposedly superior battery.
Best built-in-cup option: SnoozeBand PRO
PRO has built-in padded eye cups; the comparison lists no onboard sounds. Its name does not mean it includes MAX's phone-free playback. It suits buyers who want the cupped shape and already plan to use a Bluetooth source.
SnoozeBand specifies 4 mm speakers, an adjustable strap and USB-C charging. Its FAQ says the charging port is accessible beneath the padding without pulling out the whole module. That convenience does not change the need to remove the electronics before washing.
Headband alternative: SleepPhones Wireless
Choose a headband if you want audio without covering your eyes. The existing card is Midnight Black Fleece, Medium; SleepPhones describes fleece as warm, while its separate Breeze fabric is breathable and moisture-wicking. Check size and fabric together before ordering.

SleepPhones
Thin, removable Bluetooth speakers in a soft, washable fabric headband from AcousticSheep, for people who can't sleep with anything in their ears.
Check package and model options
- 24 h battery
Wireless uses Bluetooth; Classic is corded and Effortless uses an induction charger. They are different models. SleepPhones' main product page says micro-USB charging, while its official shop says USB-C. Confirm the exact connector supplied rather than assuming the Wireless name settles it.
Buying guide: fit the eyes and ears separately
Eye-cup design and speaker thickness answer different questions. A speaker measurement does not establish eyelash clearance or the thickness of all the surrounding padding. Manta's cups adjust independently; MAX's are removable; PRO's are built in; Deluxe lies flat.
Eye area
Check eyelash clearance and light around your nose. Choose the flat Deluxe design only if you want padding against your eyes.
Speaker position
Use Manta's pull tabs or MAX's Velcro pockets to center the speakers over your ears before tightening the strap.
Pillow position
Try your usual position. Check temple pressure, the rear fastening, movement when turning and sound your partner can hear at your intended volume.
Keep those fit checks separate from a maker's blackout or comfort promises. For the sound-color choice itself, read our white vs pink vs brown noise guide.
Streaming, downloaded audio and on-mask sounds
SnoozeBand's app is optional: its masks work with other Bluetooth audio apps. MAX and Deluxe also have onboard sounds; PRO does not. The app's offline-download feature and a mask's built-in sound bank are different routes:
Streaming
Phone or other Bluetooth source → Bluetooth → mask speakers. Your chosen service supplies the audio.
Downloaded audio
Audio saved in the phone's app → Bluetooth → mask speakers. Offline listening still uses that source device.
Built-in playback
MAX or Deluxe sound bank → mask speakers. No external device is needed for those built-in sounds.
Plan on a Bluetooth source for Manta SOUND and SleepPhones Wireless. Before a trip, check the exact audio path with your intended app and connectivity settings. Do not assume the app's download option means files are stored inside the mask.
Remove the electronics before washing
For current Manta SOUND, remove the headphones and battery through the magnetic top opening. Those parts are damp-wipe only; machine wash the eye cups and strap cold in a mesh bag, then air dry flat. The diagram separates what goes into the washer from what stays out.

mantasleep.com — source for Manta SOUND's headphones and battery must be removed and are damp-wipe only.Remove the headphones and battery unit through the convenient access point — which snap in and out easily using magnets. These parts are not machine washable and should only be wiped with a damp cloth.

mantasleep.com — source for Manta recommends cold machine washing the eye cups and strap in a mesh bag, then air drying flat. The eye cups and the head strap are machine washable. We recommend putting these parts in a mesh laundry bag and putting in the washer. Wash with cold water. Once washed, air dry these parts by laying them flat.
SnoozeBand recommends hand washing, with electronics removed and reinserted when dry. MAX's specified access is the Velcro opening underneath. Do not transfer Manta's machine-wash instructions to SnoozeBand. SleepPhones has a separate care routine: remove speakers, module and cord, wash the band warm, and reinsert components when dry.
Battery, timers, charging and replacement parts
Read runtime as a maker claim; confirm the playback mode and volume you intend to use. Manta's automatic switch-off after 30 minutes without audio is an inactivity feature. MAX and PRO offer selectable 1- or 2-hour shutdown timers. Deluxe's product page adds 3 hours, but the general FAQ says 1 or 2 hours for all models: confirm the supplied manual before relying on the longer setting.
SnoozeBand says all its models charge over USB-C. For SleepPhones, resolve the connector conflict above before buying a spare cable.
Removable electronics should not be treated as a promise of replacement-part availability. SleepPhones publishes a parts chart with headbands, speakers and modules. For any pick, use this checklist before assuming you can repair it:
- Ask which speaker assembly and battery/control module fit the exact generation.
- Confirm whether replacement eye cups, eye pads or the fabric band are sold separately.
- Match the module connection and charging cable, not just the brand name.
- Ask whether a defect means a component replacement or a whole-unit exchange.
Fit and returns: check the deadline before ordering
Manta's maker-direct policy gives 60 days, requiring good condition and original packaging; its defect-exchange period is 6 months. SnoozeBand's refund policy says request a return within 15 days of receipt, while its product pages say send it back within 15 days. Contact it promptly to confirm the deadline. Keep the box, booklet and cable; its policy assigns return shipping to the buyer.
SnoozeBand's 30-day model-exchange window is separate from its refund window, and its manufacturing-defect coverage is 1 year. For another seller, check that seller's conditions. Use the return period to assess fit rather than expecting a specification to settle it.
How we choose
This is a document-based comparison of current maker pages, official care instructions, model tables and policies, checked November 2, 2026. We prioritize eye clearance, speaker positioning, phone requirements and cleaning access. Conflicting manufacturer claims stay visible; unknown specifications stay unknown. Comfort, light gaps and sound leakage at your pillow remain individual checks, not established results. See how we choose for our research method.
Verdict
Start with Manta SOUND for adjustable cups and Bluetooth playback. Choose MAX for built-in sounds and swappable eye covers, Deluxe for flat padding, or PRO for built-in cups with phone audio. Choose SleepPhones Wireless when you want the headband format. Decide on eye design and audio source before comparing runtime claims.

Frequently asked questions
Can a sleep mask with headphones work without a phone?
SnoozeBand MAX has ten sounds stored in the mask, and Deluxe also has built-in sounds; those modes work without another device. PRO has no built-in sound bank in the maker's comparison. Downloading audio in the SnoozeBand app is different: it makes the phone's audio available offline, with the phone still providing Bluetooth playback to the mask.
Which headphone sleep masks leave room around the eyes?
Manta SOUND has adjustable C-shaped eye cups. SnoozeBand MAX has removable eye cups, while PRO has built-in padded cups. Deluxe uses padding that lies flat against the eyes. Choose by the eye design before comparing speaker thickness, and check eyelash clearance and light around the nose during the return window. A specification cannot establish your individual fit.
Can you wash a Bluetooth sleep mask?
Remove the electronics first. Manta specifies cold machine washing for SOUND's eye cups and strap, followed by air drying flat; the headphones and battery are damp-wipe only. SnoozeBand recommends hand washing after removing the electronics and reinserting them when dry. MAX opens through bottom Velcro. Follow the instructions for your exact model rather than treating all washable masks alike.
Are sleep masks with headphones noise cancelling?
Do not assume it. SnoozeBand describes masking ambient noise with played audio; its light-blocking claims do not establish an audio attenuation rating. Choose these designs for their audio and eye covering, and assess sound leakage at your intended volume. If controlling outside sound is your main buying decision, compare the different designs in our sleep-earbud guide.
