Buy Aranet4 HOME for a standalone CO2 monitor you read on its screen or sync to a nearby phone. Choose Aranet4 PRO when you need its additional radio link to an Aranet base station for central collection and optional cloud access. Both publish the same typical CO2 accuracy, so choose around how you will collect the readings. HOME datasheet, PRO datasheet.
Quick picks
- A bedroom, home office or portable monitor: HOME; no base station needed.
- Several rooms collected centrally: PRO sensors plus a compatible base station. Owning several monitors alone does not require PRO; the shared manual also documents Bluetooth access to multiple Aranet4s.
- Wi-Fi plus particles or radon: consider Airthings View Plus. For an open-source, externally powered format, consider AirGradient ONE.

How the monitor, phone, base station and cloud connect
Bluetooth sync needs a nearby phone; the app works without Wi-Fi or mobile data. PRO's separate radio sends measurements to the base station. The base has its own local history and browser interface; optional Aranet Cloud adds centralized remote access through the base's Internet connection. Best standalone: Aranet4 HOME
HOME's e-ink screen shows CO2, temperature and humidity; the app adds pressure, graphs, settings and firmware updates. Its optional buzzer is disabled by default. Display and app, default settings.

Aranet
A battery-powered, e-ink CO2 monitor with a true NDIR sensor and pressure compensation, plus temperature and humidity, that logs to a phone app over Bluetooth.

The monitor keeps measuring while your phone is away; the app retrieves available history when you return. Choose HOME if that collection routine fits. Independent measurement.
Best for central collection: Aranet4 PRO
Our PRO configuration is the TDSPC0U3 sensor on US920 for US installations. The PRO datasheet lists two AA alkaline batteries and a configuration pin in the package; specify the matching regional base separately. PRO specification and package.
A naming trap: the older HOME/PRO leaflet names the Aranet PRO base station; current help marks that original base discontinued. For new installations, investigate PRO Plus. The current base comparison lists all-Aranet sensor support, local history and 12 sensors by default, with license upgrades to 50 or 100. Original base status, current base comparison.
Base-station graphs export CSV and XLSX locally. Cloud data access needs a separate Basic or Pro subscription after the trial. Confirm capacity, integration licenses, power equipment and cloud requirements in the system quote. Base export, cloud licensing.

The app's 90-day history is data synchronized to the phone. It cannot recover sensor readings already overwritten. At the default interval, reconnect before the 15-day buffer expires; at one-minute intervals, plan around 3.5 days. Enable Background data read to sync while within range, subject to the app running in the background. Storage behavior.
To export, open the graph, use the share control, select a date range and choose CSV or XLSX. Export regularly for a longer archive: the app also overwrites older history. Changing the measurement interval restructures existing sensor history by averaging or padding values, so avoid switching intervals during a comparison. Export controls, memory restructuring.
Before replacing batteries, synchronize first: removing them erases the history stored inside the sensor. Keep side vents clear and place the monitor near breathing height, away from direct breath, windows, doors and sunlight. Battery-change warning, placement.
Choose an interval
Longer intervals retain more days inside the monitor; keep the interval steady during comparisons.
Synchronize before history rolls over
Background data read works within Bluetooth range while the app runs in the background.
Export and preserve
Save CSV or XLSX for a longer archive; synchronize before taking out the batteries.
Batteries and calibration
Both use two AA batteries. Both models' tables estimate 2.8 years on alkaline batteries at 20°C, with Bluetooth on and 5-minute intervals. These are extrapolations; Bluetooth activity affects life. HOME battery table, PRO battery table.
Aranet4 arrives factory-calibrated; automatic calibration is off by default. Aranet recommends yearly calibration and says automatic mode needs approximately 8 hours in fresh air around 420 ppm during each 30-day period. If your intended location cannot meet that condition, our recommendation is to retain manual mode and follow the app's calibration guidance. For manual calibration, Aranet specifies a stable fresh-air environment for 30 minutes, staying at least 1 meter away. Calibration FAQ, defaults.

Alternative for Wi-Fi and more sensors: Airthings View Plus
View Plus is worth considering if you want one Wi-Fi monitor with CO2, PM2.5, radon, VOC, temperature, humidity and pressure measurements. It connects over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and runs from six AA batteries or USB power, so an Aranet base station is unnecessary for that format. Official View Plus product sheet.

Airthings
A seven-sensor home monitor (radon, PM2.5, NDIR CO2, VOCs, temperature, humidity and pressure) with an e-ink display, Wi-Fi, and either battery or USB-C power.
Check package and model options
- Radon, PM2.5, CO2 (NDIR), VOC, temperature, humidity, air pressure
AirGradient ONE is the alternative for an open-source, externally powered installation. It combines NDIR CO2 with particles, VOC/NOx indices, temperature and humidity, connects over Wi-Fi, and requires a USB power supply. Choose that format if data integration and particle measurements matter more to you than battery portability. Official AirGradient ONE specifications.
What a CO2 reading tells you
Use CO2 trends as a ventilation clue in an occupied room. HSE cautions that single readings can mislead and measurements are only a broad guide to ventilation. Aranet4's listed sensors do not include particles, VOCs or radon, so its CO2 indicator cannot summarize those measurements. HSE guidance.
For humidity-focused shopping, use our hygrometer guide. For particle-filtering appliances, see our air purifier guide; HSE notes that air cleaners do not remove CO2 or improve ventilation.
How we choose
We compare official datasheets, manuals and current support documentation, distinguishing sensor memory, app history and network collection. Picks reflect published capabilities, regional compatibility and licensing; we have no first-hand measurement results. See How we choose.
Verdict
HOME is the pick for most standalone buyers. Choose PRO for its receiver connection after specifying a compatible base and deciding whether you need cloud data access. If your priority is Wi-Fi and additional pollutants, compare View Plus or AirGradient ONE before committing to the Aranet system.
Frequently asked questions
Is Aranet4 PRO more accurate than HOME?
The current datasheets publish the same typical CO2 accuracy for both: ±(30 ppm + 3% of reading), specified from 0–5,000 ppm at 15–35°C and 0–80% relative humidity. PRO adds the radio link to Aranet base stations. Choose it for central collection or an Aranet Cloud system; its model name does not establish an accuracy advantage.
Does Aranet4 work without Wi-Fi or a phone?
Yes. The monitor displays readings and continues measuring independently when the app is closed or the phone is away. The Aranet Home app retrieves available history over Bluetooth when you reconnect. Neither HOME nor PRO has built-in Wi-Fi. PRO can send readings to a compatible base station, which supplies the network connection for the Aranet system.
How long does Aranet4 store data?
The sensor stores 3.5 days at one-minute intervals, seven days at two minutes, 15 days at the default five minutes, or 30 days at ten minutes. The phone app holds up to 90 days of synchronized history and exports CSV or XLSX. These are separate stores: reconnect before the sensor overwrites older readings, and export app data you want to keep longer.
Can I check Aranet4 from outside my home?
The phone app needs a nearby Bluetooth connection to retrieve new readings. The maker's cloud route uses Aranet4 PRO, a compatible base station with an Internet connection, and an Aranet Cloud data plan. HOME also has a documented Home Assistant integration, but that requires a separate system; buying HOME alone does not provide Internet access to its readings.
