About this guide
thisHUSH covers comfort, quiet and air-quality gear, not health. Nothing on this site is medical advice: for sleep, breathing or hearing concerns, talk to a doctor.
Choose the Boneco W200 for pouring water directly into an open basin, or the W300 for a removable refill tank and more water between refills. The W300 is our refill-convenience pick; the W200 is our pick for fewer water-contact parts to clean. For US buyers, both recommendations are conditional: the official manuals retrieved here describe 220–240 V versions, and we could not verify a current complete US kit.
Quick picks
- W200: simpler basin filling. Choose it if carrying smaller pours to the machine suits your routine.
- W300: larger water reserve. Choose it if you prefer taking a removable tank to the faucet and accept the extra tank-cleaning work.
- AW200: the mat to match. Boneco explicitly lists both machines on its replacement-mat page.
The table uses the W200 international manual and W300 international manual. These are manufacturer specifications, not measurements of US retail units.

The W300's feature sheet gives the different empty weight shown above and orders its dimensions as 280 × 400 × 412 mm. Use the manual's labeled dimensions when planning placement; do not silently combine the two documents into one precise specification.
Source: Boneco W200 and W300 international manuals linked above; total capacity is not a tank lifting weight.
W200: best for direct basin refills
The W200 manual's filling sequence is straightforward: lift off the upper part, fill the base with cold tap water to its marking, then replace the upper part without trapping the cable. That makes it our preference if you want to use a pitcher and choose how much water to lift with each pour. Keep the base on a flat surface and respect the fill mark.
The lifting distinction: its 4.5 L capacity represents approximately 4.5 kg of water alone, calculated using the USGS's approximate water density. A carried full basin also includes the basin's own weight, which is not separately specified. The manual's 4.9 kg figure is the entire empty appliance; it is not the weight of a refill container. Pouring smaller amounts avoids needing to carry that full water load at once.
Our cleaning preference follows the parts list: the W200 has no separate refill tank and cap to brush. It still needs regular cleaning of the base, drum and mat. Choose it for that simpler water path, not because a washable mat makes upkeep optional.

W300: best for more water between refills
The W300 manual tells you to remove the water tank, fill it with cold tap water and put it back. Its 12 L total capacity is the reason to choose it: both manuals give the same output and room-size figures, so the larger model's advantage here is stored water rather than a higher published humidification rate.
Do not read “12 L” as the weight you must lift on every refill. The retrieved technical data do not split total capacity between the removable tank and base or state the empty tank's weight. We therefore cannot give an honest full-tank carrying weight. Before buying for someone who finds lifting awkward, check the actual filled tank, grip and faucet clearance; otherwise the W200's smaller pours may be the better routine.
The cost in work is concrete: the W300 manual specifies cleaning inside the tank with dish detergent and a suitable brush, and brushing its cover separately. Neither is included in the manual's dishwasher instruction for the water base and drum. More water storage does not remove those jobs.
View Boneco's W300 model page. Verify the tank, cap, power cord and region of the actual package.
AW200: the correct washable mat and replacement order
The AW200 accessory page explicitly names W200 and W300 compatibility. Order by that part name, and check pack quantity; a reference to a “Boneco filter” is not enough identification.
Boneco's mat page says to replace it every 24 months. The machine manuals instead put cleaning every two weeks on the maintenance schedule. Those instructions cover different tasks: continue washing the mat between replacements. A spare mat is optional; it is not a reason to order a second drum.

The A7017 interval above belongs to these international manuals. Confirm the instructions supplied with the regional machine and replacement pack before ordering it. It does not replace cleaning. We could not establish current US supply for the machines or accessories from the retrieved official sources, so none is presented as a verified US retail offer.
Buying guide: what “easy to clean” actually means
For both machines, unplug first, remove the drum and mat, and take out the A7017 before washing the base. Boneco permits the water base and drum in a dishwasher at no more than 50 °C. It permits the AW200 mat in a washing machine at no more than 40 °C, washed separately or in a laundry bag, and prohibits a clothes dryer. The fan and inner housing are wiped with a damp cloth.
Those component instructions, plus the W300's hand-cleaned tank and cap, give this practical sorting guide:
Base and drum
Hand wash, or use a dishwasher program no hotter than 50 °C.
AW200 mat
Wash separately or in a laundry bag at up to 40 °C; never use a clothes dryer.
W300 tank and cap
Clean by hand with dish detergent and a suitable brush.
Fan and inner housing
Wipe with a damp cloth after unplugging.
Cleaning frequency needs context. Boneco's manuals schedule base, drum and mat cleaning every two weeks, adding the tank for the W300; they also say intervals vary with water quality, air quality and operating time. They call for fresh water after the third day without operation and annual fan/interior cleaning.
Both manuals allow fragrance in the separate fragrance drawer and warn against putting additives or oils directly into the base. Keeping water and fragrance in their designated places is part of the upkeep, too.
Noise, controls and realistic room coverage
Both machines have a rotary control for day and night operation and an LED that turns red when water is empty. Their documented controls select operating modes; they do not establish a selectable humidity setpoint. For a separate room reading, see indoor humidity and hygrometers. EPA says not to exceed 50% indoor relative humidity, and to reduce use or change placement if condensation appears.
The table's identical sound figures belong to 230 V / 50 Hz specifications. They do not establish that one machine sounds quieter beside a bed, or that a US version has those ratings. Neither model wins our recommendation on an unmeasured noise difference.
Neither is our whole-house humidifier recommendation. Boneco gives both the same 50 m² / 125 m³ room recommendation. EPA distinguishes central humidifiers, which are built into heating and air-conditioning systems, from portable units. For a larger space, start with our large-room humidifier guide; do not assume the W300's bigger water reserve extends its room rating.
What “air washer” does and does not establish
Boneco describes the AW200 mat as capturing larger particles such as household dust. That description does not provide a HEPA efficiency rating or a particle CADR for these two models. We would buy either for its humidification and water-handling design, not use it as a substitute for a documented particle-filtering purifier.
For particle filtration, EPA recommends a room-appropriate CADR; it also distinguishes particle filtration from gas filtration. Our evaporative vs ultrasonic guide explains the humidity technology choice.
Before ordering a winter kit in the US
Require a manufacturer-documented US voltage and plug, a matching regional manual and an exact retail model identifier. The retrieved manuals use the bare model names W200 and W300 and specify 220–240 V; they do not verify a US suffix or a current US listing. We have left US retail identification unresolved rather than assigning a plausible code.
Check that the assembly includes its drum and fitted AW200 mat. The W200 manual identifies its power cable; the W300's delivery list separately names the power cord, and its parts diagram identifies the removable tank and cover. Confirm the fitted water-base accessory against the regional documentation. These are checks on a complete package, not instructions to buy every component separately.
- Yes: Confirmed US electrical version and matching regional manual
- Yes: Drum and AW200 mat included in the complete assembly
- Yes: W300 package includes its tank, cap and power cord
- Partly: A7017 inclusion and instructions confirmed for the exact regional kit
- No: Model name alone, without voltage or retail-kit identification
If a complete supported US package cannot be documented, choose another documented option from our humidifier buying guide. An international model page is useful documentation, but it is not confirmation of a US kit.
How we choose
These are research-based recommendations from Boneco's official manuals, feature sheets and accessory information, with EPA guidance for maintenance and filtration boundaries. Our priorities are refill handling, the actual washable components and exact replacement-part fit. Regional gaps and conflicting specifications remain visible; the recommendations do not imply physical testing or verified US stock. See How we choose.
Verdict
Choose W200 for direct basin refills and fewer water-contact parts, or W300 for its removable tank and larger total reserve. AW200 is the mat named for both. For a new US purchase, wait for documented regional compatibility and a complete supported kit before choosing either linked model.

Frequently asked questions
What is the main difference between the Boneco W200 and W300?
The W200 fills directly into its 4.5 L water base. The W300 uses a removable tank and holds 12 L in total, so it is our choice for more water between refills. Both retrieved international manuals list the same maximum output and room recommendation. The W300 adds tank and cap cleaning; its larger capacity is not evidence of greater whole-house coverage.
Are the Boneco W200 and W300 compatible with US outlets?
Do not decide from the model name alone. The official manuals retrieved for this comparison specify 220–240 V versions. We could not verify a current complete US kit, its regional retail identifier or matching US manual through the official sources. Require documentation for the exact unit's voltage and plug before ordering; the international specifications below do not verify a US listing.
Which replacement mat fits the Boneco W200 and W300?
Boneco names the AW200 evaporator mat for both. Its accessory page recommends replacement every 24 months, while the machine manuals call for mat cleaning every two weeks. Washing and replacement are separate jobs. The mat can be machine washed at up to 40 °C, but the manuals prohibit a clothes dryer. Confirm the replacement pack's quantity before ordering.
Can the W200 or W300 replace a HEPA air purifier?
We would not choose either for that job. Boneco describes the AW200 mat capturing larger particles, but the retrieved specifications establish neither a HEPA filter rating nor particle CADR for these models. For particle filtration, EPA recommends choosing a portable air cleaner with a CADR appropriate to the room. Regard the Boneco decision here as a humidifier purchase.
