About this guide
thisHUSH covers comfort, quiet and air-quality gear, not health. Nothing on this site is medical advice: for sleep, breathing or hearing concerns, talk to a doctor.
For most buyers choosing between these two, the Coway Mighty AP-1512HH is our default: it shares the 200M's genuine replacement filter set and published room-size claim, with a lower published power rating. Choose the Airmega 200M AP-1518R if you prefer its appearance or prioritize its higher maker-listed particle CADRs; buying it does not give you a different standard filter-maintenance schedule. The Mighty2 AP-1512N is a separate model and filter family, so check the complete name before ordering. Coway specifications, 200M, shared filters.

Source: Coway's current US product specifications; not a noise-matched comparison
The 200M leads on every published CADR here; calling the machines identical would hide that difference. However, both carry the same room-size claims. Do not compare one listing's 1,748-square-foot headline with another's 361-square-foot figure as though they describe different capacities: the air-change rates differ. Coway's Mighty manual states an 8-foot ceiling assumption.
AHAM describes CADR as filtered-air delivery, with separate smoke, dust and pollen scores. Its directory searches did not return matching entries in this audit, so we have not independently confirmed an AHAM Verifide listing for either model. The table remains a comparison of maker figures, not a certification claim. AHAM's explanation, directory.
Default pick: Coway Mighty AP-1512HH
The original Mighty suits buyers who want the shared filter system without the 200M's higher published power rating. Its 77 W specification is a rating, not a prediction of consumption at your chosen speed. We would not replace a working Mighty solely to move to the 200M: shared filters and the same stated room coverage make that a weak upgrade case.

Coway
Coway Airmega Mighty AP-1512HH
Coway's long-running mid-size purifier: smoke CADR 233 with a washable pre-filter, carbon deodorization filter and HEPA filter, a particle sensor with auto mode, and a switchable ionizer.
Check package and model options
- 233 CFM smoke CADR
- 361 sq ft room
- Washable pre-filter + carbon deodorization filter + HEPA; switchable ionizer
- 24 dB lowest setting
Its useful controls are physical: power, fan speed, ionizer, timer and filter reset. The US manual describes both manual operation and sensor-driven Auto mode. Choose a fixed speed if a changing fan is distracting.
Alternative for higher published CADR: Coway Airmega 200M AP-1518R
Choose the 200M for its higher listed particle CADRs or because you prefer its design. Its US manual identifies the electrical version as 120 V, 60 Hz. Coway's current catalog identifies white as SKU 826439000349 and black as 826439000271; those are maker SKU identifiers, not Amazon ASINs.
Check physical fit carefully. The current catalog's size and weight match the Mighty, but the 200M manual gives 16.81 × 18.30 × 9.37 in, W × H × D, and 13.2 lb. That conflicts with the catalog values above. Allow room around the unit and use the manual's placement instructions rather than treating matching catalog rows as proof of identical housings.
The exact Amazon variant remains unverified, so this recommendation links to Coway. Match AP-1518R, color and electrical region before selecting a marketplace offer.

Controls, indicator lights and noise
Auto and Eco are different choices. Both manuals describe Auto adjusting among speeds 1–3 using a dust sensor. In Eco, the fan stops after 30 minutes without detected pollution. If you want continuous fan operation, select a manual speed. The off timer is another control: it switches the machine off after the selected interval.
The ionizer is optional on both. A short press switches it on or off; holding its button for 3 seconds toggles the air-quality light. Check the ionizer indicator afterward. The manuals refer to the air-quality lamp, so do not assume that this blacks out every panel light.
Early filter resets differ. The Mighty manual lists Odor, then HEPA when selecting a filter to reset early. The revised 200M manual lists HEPA, then Odor, then both together. Follow the manual for your unit instead of borrowing a button sequence from the other model.
EPA notes that CADR is typically measured at the highest speed, and that lower fan speeds filter less air. Do not pair the lowest noise figure with the highest CADR. For a wider shortlist, see quiet air purifiers for bedrooms. Mighty one-sheet, EPA guidance.
Buying guide: filters, pet upkeep and replacement codes
Neither has an inherent replacement-filter cost advantage when you buy the same set. Coway explicitly names both models for its shared set and describes one HEPA filter plus two deodorization filters. The carbon and HEPA components have separate replacement schedules; the washable pre-filter is a separate component. Coway's shared set, 200M maintenance.

These are whole-set option identifiers, not individual carbon-pad or HEPA-panel part numbers. Do not assume that a similarly named “Fresh Starter” and “Fresh Starter+” are interchangeable. Mighty2's own filter.
For upkeep, Coway specifies cleaning the pre-filter every 2–4 weeks, replacing deodorization filters every 6 months, and HEPA every year. Unplug before cleaning, vacuum or wash the pre-filter, and let it dry completely before reinstalling. Do not wash the carbon or HEPA filters. The manuals base replacement intervals on 8 hours a day at maximum speed, with intervals varying by environment; they are not guaranteed lifespans.
For a pet household, make pre-filter inspection part of routine cleaning. For odor decisions, EPA says CADR rates particles, not gases; a higher pollen CADR does not establish better pet-odor removal. This research does not establish an odor-performance winner or a cheapest-filter ranking.
For a filter-fit cross-check, Coway's 200M support page lists serial-code segments 02F39, 02FAQ, 02F7F and 02FAE, appearing after the first 3 characters. If the label does not match the expected model, ask Coway to identify it before ordering. Official compatibility check.

Match the full model
Confirm the purifier model, color and electrical region against Coway's documentation.
Check the included filters
Distinguish installed filters from extra replacement sets; identify the chosen filter option.
Compare the complete purchase
Count purifiers and spare sets, then compare the same configuration and check the seller's return terms.
Keep the model and consumables in separate notes while comparing offers. A larger bundle count does not tell you how many HEPA replacements are included. The exact-model comparison here also belongs beside our broader best air purifiers guide.
How we choose
This comparison uses Coway's current US store specifications and variant identifiers, US manuals, official filter-support articles, and AHAM and EPA explanations. We compare matched air-change rates, controls and replacement parts; recommendations are editorial judgments from those documents. We have not physically tested these purifiers or measured their noise, particle removal or odor performance. Our research method explains the approach.
Verdict
Choose the Mighty AP-1512HH by default when the offers are otherwise comparable. Choose the 200M AP-1518R for its higher maker-listed CADRs or your preferred appearance. Shared replacement filters make upkeep a tie; the noise-document conflicts prevent a confident quietness ranking. Verify the complete model and filter option before buying either.

Frequently asked questions
Are the Coway AP-1512HH and Airmega 200M the same purifier?
They are separate models: the original Mighty is AP-1512HH, while the 200M is AP-1518R. They share Coway's named replacement filter set and the same published room coverage, but their listed CADRs and power ratings differ. Their manuals also describe different selection orders when resetting a filter early. Regard them as close alternatives, and match the full model number before ordering either the purifier or replacement filters.
Do Coway 200M and AP-1512HH replacement filters fit both models?
Yes. Coway explicitly lists its Mighty AP-1512HH & 200M Filter Set for both models and describes a set containing one HEPA filter and two deodorization filters. The current Fresh Starter set SKU is 826439142605. Match the selected filter option, not just the shared page title. Mighty2 AP-1512N has its own filter family, and AP-1512HHS has a separately named filter set.
Which is the better Coway air purifier for pets?
We favor the original Mighty as the default between these two, with the 200M a reasonable alternative for its higher published particle CADRs or your preferred appearance. Both have a washable pre-filter and separate carbon and HEPA replacements. For pet odors, particle CADR does not establish gas-removal performance. Compare the exact filter option and maintenance requirements; neither model has an inherent replacement-filter advantage when you order the same shared set.
Can I turn off the ionizer and light on these Coway models?
Both manuals describe an ionizer on/off button. Holding that button for three seconds toggles the air-quality indicator light. That is a separate action from a short press to switch the ionizer, so check its indicator afterward. The instruction concerns the air-quality lamp; it does not promise that every control-panel indicator goes dark. For predictable fan operation, choose a manual speed rather than relying on changing Auto or Eco behavior.
