About this guide

thisHUSH covers comfort, quiet and air-quality gear, not health. Nothing on this site is medical advice: for sleep, breathing or hearing concerns, talk to a doctor.

Choose the Coway Airmega Mighty2 AP-1512N if you want physical controls, a pre-filter that slides out sideways and a separate all-lights-off setting. Choose the Levoit Vital 200S-P if recurring app schedules and a pre-filter with explicit washing instructions matter more. This Levoit vs Coway comparison covers those exact US models; the evidence does not establish a quietest winner.

What that means for your room: AHAM's published formula is room area = smoke CADR × 1.55. For Mighty2, 240 × 1.55 = 372 sq ft, assuming the standard ceiling basis; AHAM advises choosing a larger-room rating above 8 feet. Coway's much larger headline area uses fewer air changes, so it is not the figure to put beside another purifier's 4.8-ACH rating.

Levoit's US manual says purification takes longer above 380 sq ft, without attaching a CADR or air-change rate to that reference. Its product pages could not be retrieved during this check, so their current capacity and noise claims remain unconfirmed here. That gap prevents a defensible room-size winner. Confirm the exact US unit's current CADR and ACH-labelled room rating before buying near its claimed limit.

AHAM check, November 2, 2026: the directory's US brand list includes LEVOIT, but we could not retrieve an exact-model certificate for either pick. Brand inclusion does not verify a particular Vital model. Use the AHAM directory to match the complete model number; no table value above is presented as an independently checked AHAM listing.

Best for physical controls: Coway Airmega Mighty2 AP-1512N

Coway Airmega Mighty2 AP-1512N Air Purifier (White)

Coway

Coway Airmega Mighty2 AP-1512N

The 2026 successor to Coway's Mighty: smoke CADR 240, a side-access pre-filter plus a combined carbon and HEPA filter, a PM1/2.5/10 laser sensor, and a purely mechanical design with no ionizer.

Check package and model options

  • 240 CFM smoke CADR
  • Removable pre-filter + Max2 filter (activated carbon + HEPA)
  • 19 dB lowest setting

Pick Mighty2 for its local controls and maintenance access. Its pre-filter slides out along a rail on the right, so leave that side accessible. The main replacement is a combined Max2 activated carbon and HEPA filter, with a separate reusable pre-filter ahead of it.

The control panel provides fan speed, modes, timer, lights and filter information. Its MegaScan laser sensor reads PM1, PM2.5 and PM10, while Smart mode adjusts airflow automatically. A shutdown timer is useful if you want a run to end; it is not evidence of a recurring weekly schedule.

There is a consequential bedroom detail: Coway's manual says Sleep mode leaves the Sleep indicator illuminated. The separate Light control offers all lights off. It also documents a sound mute using the Speed and Light buttons. These are stronger reasons to choose this model than treating its minimum noise claim as proof of better bedroom performance.

Know the trade-off: Smart mode can enter Sleep automatically in darkness, and its Eco behavior can stop the fan when the sensor continues to report good air quality. Select a manual speed if you want continuous airflow at a chosen setting. These behaviors are described in the US manual.

Best for schedules: Levoit Vital 200S-P

Pick Vital for the routine you can program. VeSync adds recurring schedules, remote settings and Pet Mode. The purifier also has local fan-speed, Auto, Sleep, timer and display buttons, so everyday operation does not require reaching for a phone. App setup calls for a secure 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.

The manual documents Pet Mode as high/medium cycling, rather than a separate filter: it alternates 15 minutes on high with 60 minutes on medium. Regard that as a control option, not proof of greater particle removal than Coway. With Light Detection enabled in darkness, Auto and Pet modes avoid high and turbo speeds.

The removable pre-filter captures larger material including hair and pet fur. Levoit explicitly permits washing it with mild detergent, then letting it dry completely. Its standard filter assembly already includes activated carbon; buying a pet-labelled accessory is not necessary merely to obtain a carbon layer.

Know the trade-off: Display Off does not suppress the Check Filter reminder. Levoit also says its infrared dust sensor detects particles rather than smells, so an automatic fan response should not be interpreted as an odor reading. These details come from the Vital US manual.

How we choose

We compared official US manuals, Coway's product specifications and AHAM's published sizing and test guidance. Recommendations prioritize controls, documented cleaning and parts identification. This is document-based research, without physical testing.

Sources were checked November 2, 2026. Levoit's storefront was rate limited, so unavailable product-page figures are left open; its accessible US manual supports the control and cleaning recommendations. We have not inferred a noise winner, a model-level AHAM listing or equivalent low-speed coverage. Our full selection method explains the approach.

Buying guide

Noise and lights: choose the operating mode, too

Coway publishes 19–50 dB. The retrieved Vital manual does not supply a comparable decibel range, and neither manual gives the clean-air delivery at its quietest speed. There is therefore no supported equal-output sound ranking here.

AHAM's testing FAQ explains that standard CADR uses the highest fan speed and that lower speed reduces room coverage. Do not combine a minimum-noise claim with maximum-speed coverage and assume both apply together. Levoit's Sleep setting is below its Low speed; Coway describes Sleep as its lowest airflow.

Both manuals offer ways to darken the display without selecting Sleep. For the documented differences:

  • Yes: Mighty2: separate all-lights-off setting and sound mute
  • Partly: Vital: Display Off leaves the filter-check reminder available
  • Partly: Both: quiet-mode clean-air delivery remains unconfirmed

Filters and cleaning: the ownership difference

Both manuals give a 2–4-week pre-filter cleaning interval and a 12-month main-filter replacement guideline, adjusted for conditions. The main filters are consumables; neither is a washable permanent replacement. Compare the exact replacement assembly and its availability before committing to either cleaning routine.

Vital: remove the front cover and release the pre-filter tabs. Use a soft brush or vacuum; washing with water and mild detergent is optional. Refit only when completely dry. Levoit requires at least 15 inches / 38 cm of front clearance, so account for operating space as well as the cabinet.

Mighty2: slide the pre-filter out to the right, vacuum or wipe with a dry cloth, refit it and reset the cleaning reminder. Coway's product page calls this pre-filter washable, while the linked US manual supplies a dry-cleaning procedure. Follow the manual's documented method unless Coway provides washing instructions for your exact unit. Do not wash Max2.

That documentation difference favors Vital if rinsing is central to your routine; the side drawer favors Mighty2 if easy access is the priority. Neither establishes a superior pet-odor result. For broader selection advice, use our pet air purifier guide.

Family names and the checkout checklist

Match Vital 200S-P to the complete model label: the retrieved manual covers LAP-V201S-WUS and LAP-V201S-KUS. Do not transfer another Levoit model's specifications into this comparison. If you arrived while considering the Core family, our Core 300 variants guide handles that separate buying question.

On the Coway side, Mighty2 AP-1512N is the pick here. The original Mighty AP-1512HH has separate deodorization and HEPA filters, as shown in its own manual. Its filter arrangement is not the Mighty2 Max2 arrangement. A shared brand or “Mighty” name is insufficient to match replacement parts.

  1. Match the unit

Read the complete model label and select the intended regional version.

  2. Match the replacement

Check that the filter is specified for that exact purifier; distinguish an appliance from a filter-only purchase.

  3. Check the package

Confirm the purifier, installed filters and any additional replacement filters separately before ordering.

Verdict

Choose Mighty2 AP-1512N for physical controls, side access and the documented all-lights-off option. Choose Vital 200S-P for VeSync schedules and explicit pre-filter washing instructions. Confirm capacity on the same air-change basis before buying for a room near either model's limit, and match replacement filters to the complete model name.

Frequently asked questions

Is Levoit or Coway better?

For this pair, choose Coway Airmega Mighty2 AP-1512N for physical controls, side access to the pre-filter and an all-lights-off setting. Choose Levoit Vital 200S-P for VeSync schedules and explicit wash-and-dry pre-filter instructions. These are choices about the exact models, rather than a verdict on either brand's entire range. We cannot establish an airflow or quietness winner from the available matched specifications.

Does the Levoit Vital 200S-P need the app?

Its local buttons provide power, manual fan speeds, Auto Mode, Sleep Mode, display controls and a shutdown timer. VeSync adds recurring schedules, remote control and Pet Mode. Levoit's setup instructions call for a secure 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Choose it without connecting if those local functions meet your needs; choose it for scheduling only if you intend to set up the app.

Can you wash the filters in these air purifiers?

Levoit explicitly permits washing the Vital 200S-P pre-filter with water and mild detergent, followed by complete air-drying. Its main particle/carbon filter is not washable. Coway calls Mighty2's pre-filter washable on its product page, but the linked US manual instructs vacuuming or wiping it with a dry cloth. Follow that dry-cleaning procedure unless Coway supplies model-specific washing instructions. Do not wash the Max2 filter.

Is the Coway Mighty2 quieter than the Levoit Vital 200S-P?

We cannot establish that from comparable evidence. Coway publishes a 19–50 dB range, but that is not an equal-airflow comparison with Levoit. Neither linked manual supplies Sleep-mode CADR. AHAM explains that standard CADR testing uses the highest fan speed and that lower speeds reduce coverage. For a bedroom, compare the documented light and control behavior as well as the sound specification.
